Disabled Students’ Fund

JCR DISABLED STUDENTS’ FUND

The JCR Disabled Students’ Fund is designed as a non-specific source of funding with no evidence requirement to help offset some of the costs that arise from living with a disability, including but not limited to: doctors notes, sensory aids, adaptive clothing and mobility aids. The fund is designed to be easy to apply for – limiting the administrative burden to keep the fund accessible to all.

The DSO will reimburse students on a case-by-case basis, with a recommended maximum spend of £50 per application. This is with a view to increase based on the scale of applications received.

The full details of the application form will be known only to the JCR DSO and President.

Your application will be brought to the JCR committee anonymously to approve the application – only data that you consent to being shared will be shared. The minimum information requirement is the projected cost of the purchase. If your application is successful, you will need to provide a receipt (and proof of dispatch, if applicable i.e. for an online purchase) to proceed with the reimbursement. The name on the bank account to which the reimbursement is sent, and the amount of the reimbursement will be visible to the JCR Treasurer, Senior Treasurer and Examiner of the College Accounts.

If the DSO applies to the policy, applications are reviewed by the JCR President and Treasurer. If the President applies, this will go to the DSO and Treasurer.

The fund may be advertised in the weekly bulletin by the President, or by the DSO in a disability bulletin.
